We would like to bring to your attention that the term of office for the current board members comes to an end in September 2023 (2018-2023).
In line with our constitution, a new board has to be voted in. Voting will take place at the AGM, which is scheduled for Thursday 21 September 2023.
Exact details on the voting process will be communicated closer to the time.

OUR NOMINEES
Bridgette is a registered Employee Wellness Specialist. She holds a Master Degree in Social Development and Planning, currently completing a qualification in Monitoring and Evaluation with FPD. Her forte is using Employee Wellness Programmes as a tool to create positive change in organisational culture.
She started her career as at General Motors South Africa. In 2009, she offered her services as a part-time lecturer in Community Development at the Nelson Mandela University. Her Experience in Employee health and Wellness cuts across both private and public sector.
Bridgette joined the EAPA SA Ikhala Chapter in 2010 as a member and have since served in various portfolios as executive member. She served as Chapter Chairperson since 2015 to 2018. She is currently holding the Finance portfolio.
Ms Cain-Noveve is a living testimony of someone going beyond the call of duty. During 2021 Batho Pele Service Excellence Awards, Bridgette was awarded Best Frontline Worker in the Eastern Cape.
This commitment and passion is further extended to support and mentor Employee Health and Wellness Professionals in different workplaces. Some of the skills Bridgette possesses that may advance the EAPA-SA are:

Dibuseng Suzan Khunwane

Dibuseng has the ability to identify, analyse and solve problems. Dibuseng has worked for 16 years as social worker/EAP Practitioner in which primary purpose is to empower management and employees with personal problem solving skills as result individuals’ lives are improved and most importantly the organisation is able to attain the desired goals and objectives. She also has the ability to initiate, plan, manage, evaluate and monitor a project successful. This has been proven during my tenure as EAP in both Department of Education and Social Development. She was successfully able to initiate women and men forums that was purposed to empower both gender in the issues of Health and wellness matters. Dibuseng Suzan Khunwane is a founding member of the Women in and into Management position that was mainly dominated by principals during my tenure as EAP practitioner in education. The organisation was established to support and empower women’s leadership position. She is also a former executive member of Jacaranda chapter and a founding member of Platinum chapter. She started health and wellness features in both Department of Education and social Development in which she is consistently writing employee health & wellness issues in the department’s newsletter.
Dr Mashaba is a qualified and registered Clinical Psychologist and her passion is invested in the holistic wellbeing of all humanity as far as mental health is concerned. She has been in private practice for the past 14 years to date enhancing, equipping and building her expertise as a mental health expert which further led me her to embark on her PhD studies.Â
Dr Mashaba has established an employee wellness centre (Rixile Health Group) which focuses on the mental health of employers and employees within the workspace to further facilitate functional and relational patterns to be extended to their communities and families. Furthermore, She has established an NPO (Action for Change) which addresses substance abuse (in particular Nyaope addiction), teenage suicide, bullying and depression amongst young people who cannot afford nor cater for access to mental health services in our country. Her experience includes vast exposure and experience in the management and treatment of mental health related disorders. With an in-depth experience in psychotherapy , Dr Mashaba is advocating for mental health and wellness as part her vision for life towards humanity and to reach as many underdeveloped communities in South Africa and Africa at large.Â
Post her PhD studies, she has presented papers in the ICP Congress in Prague, The World Council For Psychotherapy in South Africa, parenting a 21st Century Child in Botswana. Furthermore, She has made contributions and appearances on National Television, and have been hosting mental health shows on E-tv from 2014 and interviews on SA FM, Radio 702, Kaya FM, and Waterberg FM amongst others to date. She is also a resident host on Radio Bop addressing and advocating for mental health and wellness matters on Tuesdays and Thursdays. She was also nominated and awarded as 2022 Most Memorable Woman by The Feature Magazine.Â
With the aforementioned, Dr Mashaba strongly believe that being part of the EAPA-SA will not only develop and nurture her expertise but it will be a great opportunity for her to contribute her knowledge and skills as a seasoned mental health expert. This will further serve as an opportunity for her to give back to the employee wellness community and advocates by bringing innovative modalities through research and other therapeutic interventions towards providing professional, ethical and effective holistic treatment and management of mental health and functioning.

Ingrid Lentswane
Employee Health and Wellness Manager
Ingrid has 15 years’ experience in Employee Health and Wellness, currently studying for a post grad qualification in HIV/AIDS Management. one area of her research interest includes work stress and well-being, she believes that by determining the triggers of work stressors is essential to improve the overall wellbeing on employees. Ingrid believes that she can bring new ideas to the board to help strengthen the EAP functions globally.
Khanyisile has over 12 years of experience in designing programs for more than 53 000 employees in the Employee Wellness and EAP field. She has collaborated with a variety of external and internal stakeholders including union representatives, general workers, middle management, to executive management. Her portfolio consists of EAP, Wellness, Absenteeism and Incapacity management. I have strong skills in Change Management and Business Coaching. Khanyisile has gained valuable experience and understanding in the design of proactive programs. This gained talent aids in the ability to transition EAP from the infant stage to the mature stage. Customer service, collaboration, and stakeholder management have all been significant success factors for me, and it is a talent that will allow me to contribute positively to the profession.

Smangele Nomkhosi Simelane

With the 20 years of experience in the Employee Wellness field in both public and private sector has exposed me in understading the field. My exposure of serving and be at the receiving end will assist the board in understanding the members that the board represent. She brings her skills in business and project management, effective administrative, organizational, report writing and effective communication skills.
Smangele considers her self flexible and able to multi-task since She is currently holding her day to day job, she is also a Chairperson in KZN EAPA Chapter and currently a PHD candidate with a title that is aligned to EAP to contribute to the body of knowledge within the industry. She would like to also contribute by growing the upcoming new EAP practitioners who are in need of mentorship. For the old members to live EAPA standards in their every day to day operations. Over and above member stakeholders and sponsors, she would like to contribute to the board by zooming into partnership with employers so that membership becomes a compliance issue that is understood from Human Capital.
Bishop Mzwandile has served as a Board and EXCO member holding a Finance Director portfolio since 2018. Previously held KZN Chapter Chairperson Portfolio. He possesses extensive Corporate Management and Governance experience. He has worked as a Provincial Employee Wellness and EAP Director for more than 20 years. He recently retired on 31 December 2022 to be a full time spiritual leader as Bishop of one of the main Churches in Southern Africa.

Mr P.M. Mosadi is a behaviorist whose passion is to see people see the power of positive behavior change. His educational background in education, psychology, general management, organizational behavior, change management, organizational development, Strategic human resource management and theology equips him to participate effectively in the practice of individual and organizational wellness.Â

Dr Borcherds has been in the EAP and Wellness profession for many years and have led Wellness teams across a number of different sectors, at both an Executive and Senior Manager level and has been able to implement significant programmes in all the corporate roles she has occupied. She has served a number of terms of office on the EAPA-SA Board, in various capacities, and have been part of the journey to re-shape and improve EAP standards, governance and content within the EAP and Wellness Industry in South Africa. Dr Borcherds is considered a thought leader by my peers and often speaks at conferences on various Wellness-related matters. She has contributed significantly by writing on various Wellness-related topics especially on workplace bullying, resilience and psychological safety. Dr Borcherds is often consulted for best practice and is always willing to provide knowledge and content to the professionals in the field. She has been instrumental in contributing to the financial sustainability of the EAPA-SA Association by successful growing the sponsorship base of the body. Her contribution has also extended into the continent as she supports teams on the continent (eg. Nigeria) through the EAP for Africa Project with knowledge, skills and support. She aims to continue to provide the necessary expertise, skills and time to ensure the growth of EAPA-SA.

AndrĂ© brings to the Assocoation incluce, problem-solving, creative thinking, mentoring of new and existing members. As an experienced EAP specialist and paid-up EAPA-SA member, she will bring vast EAP service provider experience into the EAPA-SA Board. He has been serving the EAP industry for more than twenty years and is very keen to share my problem-solving and creative skills with the board, as well as mentoring new and existing members within the association. AndrĂ© values the work of EAPA-SA and believes that through the professionalisation of our association we will provide the necessary guidance to individual and service provider members. The association has proven through it’s history and the achievements that were made, that they play a significant role within the EAP industry and that this vision is to be taken forward and is to be expanded on through increasing the membership base and marketing of the EAP industry to the formal workplaces within South African and the professionals that support these industries.
During his tenure as the President of the Association, Mr Chabalala has played a significant role in the formation and support of the EAPAs in the African Developing State such as Kenya and Uganda as well as other African countries. He continue to be part of the EAP For Africa project today as serving member of the Board in his capacity as the Immediate Past-President of the Association. Mr Chabalala brings to the Association a wealth of experience for working with industry stakeholders and has ensured the growth of the Association both locally and globally. He has endless desire to serve the Association and his passion is to pave the road towards the recognition of EAPA-SA as a statutory council in the next three years.

Bernedette Roberson

Bernedette Roberson, also known as Bernie. I am a Qualified Social work for 35 years and an Accredited SAQA Professional since 2014. I was involved in EAP since 2004. Married with 2 adult children and live in Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth). I am skilled and trained in several areas, one being project management. Bernie was the Chapter Chairperson for Nelson Mandela Bay from 2010 to 2015. We, Nelson Mandela Bay, received the Chapter of the Year Award in 2013. She also received the Board Member of the Year Award in 2013. In 2014 I was coopted to assist with the then Conference Organising Committee on a board level. My love for project management and Eduweek since my involvement in 2015 has seen this portfolio grow and develop into what it is today. With the guidance of past and current board members we have seen the Eduweek grow in leaps and bounds with each year surpassing the next. EAPA-SA went from 198 attendees in 2015 to over 400 in 2021. Although she is employed full time, my passion and dedication towards serving on the board and in the Eduweek portfolio has never diminished and we strive to better the Eduweek every year. Her knowledge over the years serving in this portfolio and understanding the needs of our members has always been her passion, she feels that her knowledge, expertise, skills and passion and being part of a great team will continue to add to the value of being a Board Member
