The EAPA-SA Board has been blown away by the quality of the speakers in our EduWeb series, launched within the second half of 2020. Last, but by no means least, on Wednesday 9 December we had the pleasure of hearing from Paul Kloppers of PwC Advisory. Paul is a Senior Associate and has more than seventeen years’ experience in the field of Human Resources. His presentation was titled, A workplace forgotten? A workplace redefined.Â
Although we know it instinctively, it is a wake-up call to be informed by a knowledgeable professional like Paul that the four walls of the office have disappeared – and that employees can work from anywhere. While we, as leaders and employees, get to live the changes in the workplace every day it is very helpful to have a well researched bird’s eye view and round-up of current pandemic-led trends. Paul mentioned that the most significant workplace changes are in the following five areas: the workplace itself and remote work, the use of technology, the leadership experience, the importance of teams and performance management.Â
As EduWeb has wrapped up for 2020 and we have taken stock, we are pleased to have practiced what we preach and embraced technology, taking EAPA-SA’s CPD-point-earning education on-line in the light of having to postpone Eduweek. The bar has been set very high, with high quality content and excellent speakers. We are looking forward to taking EduWeb to new heights in 2021 – and of course to seeing our members face-to-face at Sun City in October 2021.
