EAPA Western Cape Chapter Event: The Future of Work Starts Now
The EAPA Western Cape Chapter successfully hosted a dynamic and engaging Chapter event on Friday, 6 March 2026, at the CPUT Hotel School in Granger Bay. The event brought together 50 attendees, including members and non-members, for a meaningful conversation on the evolving world of work under the theme “The Future of Work Starts Now.”
The programme featured a series of insightful presentations from industry experts, each addressing critical aspects shaping the modern workplace. The event opened with Ms Suyokazi Dwane from CPUT, who presented on Human-Centric Innovation, Skills Disruption and Adaptive Workspaces. Her session highlighted the growing need for organisations to rethink how they develop talent, embrace innovation, and design workplaces that support agility and adaptability in a rapidly changing environment.
This was followed by Mr Glenn Simpson from Lyra, who explored “The Human-Centric Frontier.” His presentation focused on the intersection of artificial intelligence, hybrid work models, and employee wellbeing, emphasising the importance of maintaining a people-first approach as organisations increasingly adopt technological solutions and flexible working practices.
The programme concluded with Ms Gwen Simon from LegalWise, who addressed the critical topic of Employee and Workplace Rights. Her session reinforced the importance of legal awareness in the workplace and highlighted how understanding employee rights contributes to healthier, more compliant, and supportive organisational environments.
The event received 5 CPD points, providing valuable professional development opportunities for members committed to maintaining and enhancing their professional competencies.
A key highlight of the day was the discussion around the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) process, which generated significant interest among attendees. Several members expressed enthusiasm about exploring this pathway further, and the Chapter will be following up with them to provide guidance and support.
The event also welcomed non-members, generating R1000 in revenue, and the Chapter has already initiated the membership onboarding process for those individuals.
Overall, the event was an energising and valuable engagement, reinforcing the importance of professionalisation, collaboration, and continuous learning as the EAPA community continues to support employees and organisations in navigating the future of work.
