Vuyisile Nkomombini is a qualified Social Worker, registered with the South African Council for Social Service Professions. He is an Assistant Director for the Employee Wellness Programme at the Department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs in the Eastern Cape Provincial capital, Bisho. Mr. Nkomombini was awarded an honours degree at the Nelson Mandela University in 2014. He worked at Shepherd’s Field Rehabilitation Centre (Port Elizabeth, South Africa) as a Substance Abuse Social Worker for a short period of time. He then moved to the Department of Social Development (Port Elizabeth) before he was head-hunted by Dora Nginza Hospital Phsyciatric Unit, a move that shaped his career and profession immensely. He then ventured into Private Practice at Healthi Choices Wellness Programs, ICAS Onsite Clinic Affiliate, Cora Bekker Psychiatric Social Work Services and Nelson Mandela University Onsite Clinic while employed full-time at Dora Nginza Hospital.

Mr Nkomombini joined the Department of COGTA on the 3rd of May 2022 as an Assistant Director: Employee Wellness responsible for the pillar of Wellness Management and caretaking the Health and Productivity and HIV and AIDS pillars. Due to his outstanding performance in implementing EHW Pillars, he recently received the EA Professional of the Year Award (EAPA) 2023 from the Ikhala Chapter. The largest, earliest, and most prestigious professional Award for those participating in the Employee Wellness Programme is the EAPA-SA. He was then chosen to serve as Ikhala Chapter’s new chairperson for 2024-2026. One of the Chapters of EAPA South Africa, Ikhala Chapter, oversees the professional development of EWP staff in the province of the Eastern Cape.

Mr Nkomombini is always determined to discharge his duties with all his might and ability and willingness to go an extra mile to keep my performance on top. He firmly believes that the one who assumes the duty of leadership must be able to initiate major positive disruption and transformation that benefits successors and not be content with only managing what already exists.
