Nevania Naidoo
Nevania Naidoo’s long-standing career in health and wellbeing was launched on the success of an exceptional academic background. Often an holistic approach is the most effective when it comes to the EWP industry and so obtaining not only a BA in Psychology, but also a Masters Degree in Social Sciences (EAP specialisation), as well as a certificate in HIV/AIDS Care and Counselling and Advanced Human Resource Management have helped Nevania gain a rich understanding of the wellness field from a multidisciplinary angle. Despite her high-ranking managerial role, Nevania is still registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa as a Registered Counsellor.
For the past 20 years Nevania has been involved in the wellness field. It all started at the charitable grass roots where she provided trauma counselling to prisoners, parents, teachers and students while facilitating life-skills and HIV/AIDS courses and workshops in the Johannesburg area. She then moved on to leaving her mark at various EWP providers both in an internal and external capacity. Her experience in the Employee Wellness field spans 20 years and numerous public and private organisations. Currently based at Strategic Wellness Solutions as the Director and Independent Wellness Specialist, Nevania still enjoys engaging with various clients in understanding how to best support the wellness journeys. This means that Nevania must stay at the forefront of the EAP and Wellness Industry and must remain focused on research and educational possibilities in the field. She is also interested in pursuing her PhD which will entail even further research into the SA market.
Her broad range of exposure allowed Nevania the opportunity to foster a unique understanding of South Africa’s different populations and what their specific wellness needs are. The exposure to multiple health and wellness models has also helped her understand the various ways that the needs of client organisations can be met. It also means that she is constantly pursuing the latest trends and information in the industry so that she is able to guide and support her clients in the best possible way.
Currently based at Workforce Healthcare as the Director of Employee Wellness, Nevania still enjoys engaging with various clients in understanding how to best support the wellness journeys of their clients. This broad range of exposure allowed Nevania the opportunity to foster a unique understanding of South Africa’s different populations and what their specific wellness needs are. The exposure to multiple health and wellness models has also helped her understand the various ways that the needs of client organisations can be met.
“I have a true passion for wellness,” explains Nevania, “and I truly feel that by supporting organisations that support their employees, we are ultimately assisting and improving their productivity, performance and bottom line.” This passion for health and wellness drives Nevania to look for new and innovative ways to help clients help their employees, a journey of both productivity and profitability.
