Smangele Simelane

Smangele Nomkhosi Simelane is an Employee Health and Wellbeing Specialist for the University of Zululand based in KwaDlangezwa campus in KwaZulu Natal. Her qualifications are Honors Degree in Social Work (UNIZULU), Masters Degree in Social Work (UP), Post Graduate Diploma in Public Admin and HR (UKZN) and Advance Programme in Organizational Development (UNISA) and currently a PhD candidate in Social Work (University of Zululand) Smangele has 23 years of experience with a special passion for Mental Wellbeing. She has held different positions in Employee Health and Wellness space in companies that are both in public and private sector like eThekwini Municipality, SAPS, The Careways Group, Metropolitan Health, SARS, Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife in positions from Employee Wellbeing Specialist to Employee Health and Wellness Manager. She is a seasoned Wellbeing Specialist with awing passion about people and works well with stakeholders, management of an employee wellbeing programmes, strategic thinking and aligning Employee wellbeing to the organizational fabric. In the field of Employee Assistance Programme Association of South Africa (EAPA-SA) she has been an EXCO member of Jacaranda Chapter (Pretoria) and was a Chairperson of EAPA Kwazulu Natal Chapter and currently a board member responsible for Marketing Portfolio. Smangele’s favorite phrase is based on Maya Angelou Poem “Still I Rise” – because of her resilience in life, no matter how the situation becomes around her she rises again, and life is beautiful and it calls for all of us to work together to rise AND try again.
