Tinyiko Godfrey Chabalala, Pan Africa & Education with EAPA-SA Board
Tinyiko Godfrey Chabalala is the former president of EAPA- South Africa. During his term of office, he has received the World Best EAPA International Branch of the year 2018 held in Minneapolis, USA. He is a Masters graduate in Social Science studies specialising in Employee Assistance Programme from the University of Pretoria. Tinyiko has a wealth of experience in the Management of the workplace Wellness Programme for the Public Sector – Government of South Africa. He has received numerous certificates and awards for championing Wellness Programme for the Public Services.
Tinyiko has been very instrumental in the launch of the 1st PAN African EAP for Africa project in Uganda- Kampala in 2017. He has also facilitated the launch of EAP-Branch in Kenya – Nairobi in 2014. During the year 2023 he had served in the PAN African EAP for Africa Committee which worked towards hosting the 2nd PAN African EAP for Africa conference held in Nigeria – Lagos. He has served in various Board for professional bodies and societies.
Hannah Adjei-Mensah, Program Manager at Korle Bu Teaching Hospital
Hannah Adjei-Mensah is an Occupational Health and Safety Professional with
experience in strategic planning and implementation of health, wellness and safety initiatives in Ghana. With over 15 over years’ experience in the healthcare industry, Hannah holds a Master of Public Health with specialisation in Health systems policy and management, a specialisation in occupational health and safety and a certificate of distinction in Employee Assistance programs.
Her professional experience covers a wide range of Specialties including health
education, critical cardiothoracic nursing care, emergency preparedness and response,
risk assessment and hazard control, focus group research and employee assistance
programs. Hannah serves as a member of the Employee Assistance Council of Africa and
is among the champions of EAP in Ghana and a member of the Supreme Healthcare
Management/EAP-Africa team.
Her interest is to promote and improve the health and safety of healthcare workers with
high-target interventions to assure employee well-being, optimise performance and
ensure organisational growth. She is a “Vision Zero” trainer with the International
Labour Organisation/International Social Security Association and collaborates with
several institutions and organisations through consultation and training.
She is the founder of Step-Up Foundation, a non-governmental organisation in Ghana,
working with other International NGOs on Social Protection, Women empowerment and
Poverty alleviation.
She enjoys health empowerment conversations with adolescents.
Ian Quamina, Director at EAPA International
With over twenty-three years of experience in Employee Assistance, Ian is a Certified Employee Assistance Professional who delivers strategic guidance on the development, implementation, management, delivery and evaluation of quality Employee Assistance Programs in the Caribbean and most recently on the African Continent.
Patience Osekre, Managing Director at Supreme Healthcare Management Services
Patience Osekre is a consultant psychotherapist and a wellness expert trained in the UK with a wealth of experience and expertise in providing health and well-being services for individuals, groups and organisations. She has worked for many years in managerial position within the public/ statutory, private and voluntary sector in the UK prior to relocating to Ghana. She is currently the managing director of Supreme Healthcare Management services and EAP-Africa (Subsidiary) in Ghana, a pioneering initiative in sub saharan Africa which provides 24/7 Employee Assistance Program and wellbeing services /consultancy for banks, oil companies, the mining industry, embassies, schools, clinics, hospitals, and other corporate institutions in various other sectors to enhance employee wellbeing, performance, and productivity. She leads a multi-disciplinary/ multi-lingual team of professionals in delivering a wide range of multifaceted employee well-being services in Ghana and across the continent. Patience is currently engaged in initiatives, such as the EAP Africa Summit and ACE (Authentic Caring Employer) awards, that assist corporate organisations in redefining workplace mental health and wellbeing as a business imperative and strategic priority. Her prime goal is to help organisations harness the mental capital of their workforce by developing meaningful and sustained wellbeing policies and workplace interventions that support good mental health.
She is passionate about creating environments where employees can thrive both personally and professionally. Her mission is to integrate best mental health practices into organisational cultures, promoting overall well-being and productivity. She has been involved in a lot of research in the UK which has helped to promote, safeguard the welfare needs and best interest of children and adults wellbeing. Promoting innovative well-being solutions to improve psychological safety, mental health literacy and a workplace culture that normalises mental health, have been a huge passion that fuels her zeal, commitment, and determination. Patience serves as a member of the Employee Assistance Council of Africa. She is a registered member of BACP (British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapist) UK and a registered member of HCPC (Health &Care Professionals Council) UK.
Suzan Tashobya, Rapport Counseling at SMC Limited
She is a counselling psychologist (MCPC). She is the Executive Director at Rapport Counselling – SMC Limited a lead Employee Assistance Program (EAP) service provider in Uganda. Her company provides EAP services to both government and private sector institutions across the country. She boosts of an experience spanning over ten years in providing counselling/psychosocial support of which, five (5) she has specialized in EAP services.
She has worked in the field of EAP for the last six years both as a charter member of EAPA- Uganda since 2017 and a member of EAPA International. She is a thoughtful Leader in Employee wellness having designed, implemented and managed Employee Wellness Program (EWP) in many organizations such as
Parliament of Uganda, Judiciary of Uganda and Office of the Auditor General (OAG) and other non- government organizations like Eskom Uganda Limited, ICEA among others. She has ploughed back into the EAP profession by being actively involved in the EAPA -Ug chapter as a member and a committee member on the EAPA- PAN AFRICA Committee representing Uganda.
Suzan has passion for Mental health at the workplace. Her work on mental well-being and resilience is also a key in her portfolio during outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic in Uganda 2020, saw her offering herself to the country as frontline worker under Ministry of Health (MHPSS) pillar, to provide psychosocial support to persons who recovered from Covid-19, integrate them back to their communities and also provided psychosocial support to returnees in the various quarantine centers in
the country. Suzan is a Board Members of Exercise is Medicine (EIM) project in Uganda.

Dr. Marion Borcherds, President-Elect at EAPA-SA
Dr. Marion Borcherds has worked within the field of Employee Wellness for the last 20 years in both a senior manager and executive position. Her portfolio is Afrocentric Head of Wellbeing and Benefits. She is a thought leader in the employee wellness space, having designed, implemented and managed Employee Wellness Programmes across many organisations. Within South Africa, she has ploughed back into the Employee Wellness profession by being actively involved in the EAPA-Egoli Chapter both as a Committee member and as the Chairperson from 2010 to 2012. She has served a number of terms of office on the EAPA-SA Board, in various portfolios and has recently been re-elected to the EAPA-SA Board for the next 3 years. Dr Borcherds has a passion for human rights work, which includes diversity, inclusion and equity focusing on women, people with disabilities and the LGBTQiA+ community. Her doctoral thesis was on workplace bullying and violence and she has done extensive work in this regard, assisting with policy formulation and the protection of dignity and respect for employees. She has written and presented both locally and internationally on mental wellbeing and resilience, whilst the COVID-19 pandemic saw her putting together a strategic framework on how to manage the Covid pandemic within workplaces.
Pogiso Mosadi, Governance Portfolio Holder at EAPA-SA
Mr P.M. Mosadi is a behaviour with passion in transformation at individual and organisational level. He holds qualifications in education, psychology, human resource management, theology and post graduate studies in organisational behaviour and change management. The 34 years of practical experience in Public Service with 20 relevant to Employee Health and Wellness empowered him with appropriate skills and competency in the field of human behaviour. Those skills and competency include governance, management, policy development,
implementation and monitoring. He had been a member of EAPA-SA since 2016 as the EAP Specialist and participated in the establishment and development of the Platinum Chapter in the North-West Province. He was elected and assigned the Governance Portfolio which is critical to ensuring compliance to EAPA-SA constitution.

Professional self-care means using habits, processes, systems, and communities to make your work life sustainable. Self-care includes all the things you do to take care of your well-being in four key dimensions – your emotional, physical, psychological, and spiritual health. Stress can affect our emotions, our body and how we behave, in lots of different ways. Sometimes when we are stressed, we might be able to tell right away. But at other times, we might keep going without recognising the signs. In fact, many of us simply get used to it. After a while, feeling constantly stressed can start to feel familiar, even normal. You don’t notice how much it’s affecting you, even as it takes a heavy toll on your health and well-being. That’s why it’s important to be aware of the common symptoms of excessive stress.

As a renowned radio and television wellbeing expert, Ronald wins the hearts and minds of audiences through his practical approach to overcoming challenges and the honest belief that wellbeing is not a lofty aspiration but something that every person deserves and can attain with the right information and tools to fix what might be perceived as broken or breaking. Ronald inspires audiences on his own Television show called SHAPE YOUR LIFE, broadcast on DSTV and has regular radio slots on numerous national and international radio stations. He is currently the driving force behind some of Africa’s largest digital health engagement platforms.

Radhi Vandayar
Radhi obtained an honours degree in Social Work at the University of Witwatersrand which was followed by 25 years in practice. She further obtained short courses to enhance her business and OD skills and knowledge. She worked in the UK in the Mental Health and Social Service setting. Her working experience in South Africa has primarily been in the field of EAP consultancy. Her work has been in various environments, including government, corporate and non-governmental organisation. She has developed skills in change management, organisational development processes, counselling, facilitation of various trainings and leadership coaching and training. In addition, business skills have been acquired through exposure to various business processes, including the development and implementation of strategies and individualised programmes for a broad based client group. She received her MBA through Henley Business College in 2012 and her coaching qualification in 2017. She has also been a part of EAPA South Africa for the last 15 years and has been a board member for the last 10 years. She is currently holds the EAPA-SA President position and was previously the Conference portfolio, Research & Development portfolio and before that held the Egoli Chairperson portfolio for 2 terms. Her commitment to the EAP field is both passionate and constant.

Kelly Manzini was an EAPA SA Board Member from 2004 – 2017 and elected as President in 2017 where he co-authored the EAP Standards (SA). Kelly holds qualifications in behavioural sciences and postgraduate business studies, with over 25 years’ experience in designing and implementing EAP and wellness programmes, both for public service and JSE-listed corporates. Kelly served in multiple inter-ministerial committees during his 10 years in the Public Service. The former Senior Manager for Organisational Development for Edcon Group, Human Resources Executive for Clicks Group and CEO of Careways Group. Kelly designed and implemented successful business turnaround strategies for both Careways and Metropolitan Wellness. Gambling turns into a disorder when those who gamble lose control over their spending and the frequency of their gambling increases. Gambling is a disorder because if a person who gambles is not in control of their gambling habits, they end up becoming addicted. Thus, it progresses to gambling disorder. Gambling disorder is a mental, psychiatric, public health and behavioural disorder that affects not only those who gamble but also other spheres of their lives. in terms of DSM-5-TR, 2022, gambling disorder is a non-substance disorder that presents with similar symptoms like those of alcohol and substance abuse.
Control or lack thereof is the keyword in gambling disorder, because anyone with control over their gambling activities would not spend more than what they planned and intended to use and would certainly not be consumed with negative gambling feelings and emotions such as being distressed.

He is also a consultant, advisor for employee health and wellness to several national and global companies in the Consumer Products, Marketing, Transportation, Manufacturing, Nutraceutical/Pharmaceutical industries, and worked with various Government and Regulatory Agencies like State Licensing Board, OSHA, NIOSH, EPA, ATSDR, DEP etc. As a physician, he continues to practice clinical occupational health, seeing pilots as a senior medical examiner for the FAA and as an attorney, he is barred in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. During his spare time, he enjoys serving as one of the founding board members for Kids’ Chance of Maine, Maine Medical Association and House of Delegate to the American Medical Association. Dr. Saito is currently the Global Chief Medical Director of Owens Corning and previously Sr. Director of Global Wellness at P&G.

The EmotionAid® 5 Step Toolkit for Self-Regulation and Emotional First Aid
Romi Kaplan, Chairperson and Co-Founder of the Counselling Hub
Romi Kaplan is a UK trained psychotherapist (Middlesex and Oxford University) with a background in humanitarian aid. She has specialised in trauma theory (NATAL, TAU) and PTSD (Harvard University), working with counsellors and non- profit workers in the humanitarian field. In 2019 she co-founded the Counselling Hub, Woodstock as a site that offers equal access to mental health services. With the advent of COVID 19 she recognised the need for a tool that health care workers (HCW) could access with a small demand on their time. To this end, the Counselling Hub has accessed international training in EmotionAid from the International Trauma Institute, a tool already being used to assist HCW. We are keen to share the protocol with other professionals for personal and professional use. Romi is a trained facilitator (CDRA) and loves engaging with other professionals in a learning environment.

Dale Masi, President/CEO at University of Maryland
Dale A. Masi is Professor Emeritus, University of Maryland, where she founded and chaired the Employee Assistance Program (EAP) Specialization. For five years on loan from the university, she directed the model EAP for the federal government and served in the Office of the Secretary of USDHHS. She is President and CEO of Masi Research Consultants, Inc., a company founded by IBM, specializing in Employee Assistance Program (EAP) design, training, and evaluation. She designed the first IBM EAP and has consulted for major corporations and government agencies including American Management Association, Pfizer, Merrill Lynch the Internal Revenue Service, and also served on the IBM Mental Health Advisory Board. She is the author of sixteen books and more than seventy articles. Dr. Masi holds a PhD from the Catholic University of America. She is a Fulbright Scholar and Fulbright Specialist and has lectured in 45 countries for the US State Department and other international organizations. She holds a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Employee Assistance Professional Association and The University of Maryland. She is an NASW Social Work Pioneer. She is listed in Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who of American Women, and Who’s Who in Finance and Industry. She is a member of the Cosmos Club.

Radhi Vandayar
Radhi obtained an honours degree in Social Work at the University of Witwatersrand which was followed by 25 years in practice. She further obtained short courses to enhance her business and OD skills and knowledge. She worked in the UK in the Mental Health and Social Service setting. Her working experience in South Africa has primarily been in the field of EAP consultancy. Her work has been in various environments, including government, corporate and non-governmental organisation. She has developed skills in change management, organisational development processes, counselling, facilitation of various trainings and leadership coaching and training. In addition, business skills have been acquired through exposure to various business processes, including the development and implementation of strategies and individualised programmes for a broad based client group. She received her MBA through Henley Business College in 2012 and her coaching qualification in 2017. She has also been a part of EAPA South Africa for the last 15 years and has been a board member for the last 10 years. She is currently holds the EAPA-SA President position and was previously the Conference portfolio, Research & Development portfolio and before that held the Egoli Chairperson portfolio for 2 terms. Her commitment to the EAP field is both passionate and constant.
