2. Background of the Chapter

During  the  EAPA SA Conference which was held from the 24 -27 August 2008 in Sun City most Provinces  during the AGM made presentations about activities happening in their branches and the Free State  did not feature in these presentations.

On the second day Branch meetings were held and as Free Staters we indicated to the Board specifically to Dr  Florinda Taute that we would like to start a Free State Branch. It was then decided that Nozi Matshoba will coordinate   the Free State Branch until everything has been finalized. The Northern Cape will also join the Free State branch due to the fact at that stage it was only two members from that branch.

Dr Taute as the mother of Chapter graced our first General meeting which was held on the 03 October 2008 in Bloemfontein. In this meeting an Executive Committee was elected. However Northern Cape has not been able to attend our meetings as they are planning to start their own Chapter.

The Exco members had several meetings and they worked tirelessly to develop the Chapter’s constitution which was also distributed to all members for their comments and inputs. The Constitution was adopted in a General meeting on the 20th March 2009. The board also made their inputs on the Constitution. So far we have had 1 seminar on Personal Finance Management and Stress Management which was sponsored by OLD Mutual.
